Captain Future, form sculpting to casting 2

Photobucket

This was my first shot, i tried to do a rough sketch in putty, so i could try and make a wax copy to enhance detail while practicing (i learned a lot about this at http:theclubhouse1.net)

so i went to a hardware store and goty this cheap silicone used to make gaskets on motors, and i gave it a shot to make a mold of the head:

This sequence of pictures shows how i took some of the silicone out of the tube, and i spreaded it over the head using a painting brush, since this silicone is not intended to be used in molding, i had to use vaseline to cover the head prior to aplying the RTV silicone from the tube. Anyway, this is what has been called "a waste mold" since it's only use is to make a wax copy.

once it has dried out, i made a single cut on a site to take the piece out.
